HYP President - Ali Kane
Bio: Alison is a Madison area native. She graduated from UW-Madison in 2012 with a Bachelors in Science, with a focus of Entomology. After getting her degree in her hobby, she decided it was time to make a career choice and joined her mother, JoAnn, a Realtor of 30 years. Alison and JoAnn have been within the top 10 of Stark Company Realtors since 2012.Alison loves going to build days to help give to those in need, and to increase her knowledge of how homes are built, to better educate her clients. She also loves meeting and getting to know new people who have big hearts and also want to give to the community! Outside of HYP, Alison loves working out, watching live music, traveling, and playing ultimate frisbee.
Volunteer Chair - Craig Rapp
Bio: Craig grew up in the Northern Illinois countryside Northwest of Chicago. After spending the standard few years living and working in bigger cities, he and his wife decided to settle down in Fitchburg. Craig received a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting at Illinois Wesleyan University and currently works as an Internal Audit Analyst at Epic. He participated in Habitat for Humanity builds during his time at Illinois Wesleyan but is new to Habitat in Dane County. Outside of Epic and Habitat, Craig enjoys outdoor activities of all sorts, seeing movies in theaters, reading, and playing with his dog Zinga.
Vice President - Abbe Smith
Bio: Abbe Smith grew up in Waunakee, WI. She works on the media marketing team for CUNA Mutual Group's direct-to-consumer insurance brand, TruStage. Abbe is a major nerd and loves all things Star Trek, Star Wars, and DC / Marvel related. As a lifelong resident of Dane County, Abbe has been passionate about staying involved in the community and giving back on a local level. Abbe first volunteered on a Habitat for Humanity of Dane County home build in 2012 with a group of coworkers. This sparked a life long passion for Habitat for Humanity's mission of building homes, community, and hope. After participating in several young professional organizations in Madison, Abbe found Habitat Young Professionals of Dane County in June 2016 and joined the Board of Directors as the Communications Chair. She now serves as the Vice President of the Board and is excited to be part of shaping the future of Habitat Young Professionals and impact the community for years to come.
Communication Chair - Colleen Peters
Bio: Colleen was raised in the "Northwoods" of Wisconsin and graduated from St. Norbert College in 2015 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Communication and Media Studies with a minor in English. She currently works as the University of Wisconsin Foundation as a Marketing Coordinator. Previously, Colleen worked at Greater Green Bay Habitat for Humanity as the Program and Marketing Manager. In this role, she helped the organization spread awareness about their mission and impact through social media, public relations and marketing.Upon moving to Madison, Colleen wanted to stay involved with Habitat and help spread awareness about the great work of the organization and connected with the Dane County HYP Board. She is excited to continue her journey with this great organization. When not talking about her love of Habitat, you can find her hiking with her husband, traveling or indulging her coffee addiction.
Finance Chair - Cory Salzmann
Bio: Cory grew up just north of Madison in DeForest, WI. He attended UW-Whitewater, where he received Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Accounting. Cory is currently working as a Staff Accountant at Smith & Gesteland, LLP. He became involved with Habitat while in college at UW-Whitewater, where he participated in build days, Collegiate Challenge trips during spring break, and fundraisers. After beginning his career, he became involved in HYP once he learned his coworker was on the board, and became the Secretary in 2016. In his free time, Cory enjoys golfing, downhill skiing, and watching Wisconsin sports
Webmaster - David DeGuire
Bio: David grew up in Wauwatosa, WI. He received a bachelor's in teaching German from Marquette University and a Master's in Elementary Education from Syracuse (Go Orange!). David now works for the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction. When not at a HYP event, David is usually playing or watching soccer.
General Member Liaison - Miranda Weber
Bio: Miranda is a Wisconsin native and grew up in the Janesville area. She attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison for college where she focused her studies on Communications. After graduation, Miranda moved out East to explore a sales career with Nestle, but after missing her home state, she relocated back to Madison and joined Baker Tilly Search & Staffing as a Talent Sourcing Specialist. Currently, she recruits for accounting and finance professionals in the greater Madison area. Miranda loves working with people - she thoroughly enjoys helping others identify their strengths and helping them succeed in their long term goals! This ties into her interest in Habitat for Humanity. Miranda's first exposure to Habitat was in college where she traveled to Florida through Alternative Breaks to help build homes for families in the Immokalee area. Miranda recently reconnected with Habitat in Dane County, and she is proud to be a board member for our local HYP chapter. In her free time, she enjoys trying new restaurants, travelling, and playing with her new kitten, Poppy!
